Hi, I'm Ricky. 🤓

I've spent the last five years traveling full-time in places like Sicily and Southern Italy, Greece, the Canary Islands, Mexico, and the Albanian Riviera.

And I'm not alone.

The more I travel, the more English teachers I meet. They're giving lessons from boutique hotels in Bali or the quiet co-working spaces of Kyiv. For most of them, teaching English online is an open door to a life of travel.

It's not always glamorous (like the time I got stuck outside in freezing sleet for six hours or when my laptop was stolen from a Ukrainian hostel).

But it beats eight hours a day in a corporate cube.

A chance meeting

I got my start as an online English teacher by accident.

I'd been bumming around Sarandë, Albania for a few months when I bumped into an American couple on the street. We became travel buddies and they put me in touch with the private language school they were working for.

The biggest surprise was how much I enjoyed it. Seeing my students progress in their language journeys still gives me goosebumps.

I signed my third contract last June, and I've branched out to teaching adults conversational and business English (two of my adult students have already received higher-paying jobs as a result of our sessions).

Paying it forward

A lot of fellow travelers and long-term expats ask me how they can get started teaching English.

And I'm always happy to help.

But I quickly realized there were probably a lot more people out there with questions. There's a lot of information in the TEFL/TESOL space. A quick search will return

A lot of people ask me questions about teaching English--especially teaching online while I travel. Some people are just curious. But many people want to know how they can teach and travel, too.

I created this website to answer questions like:

  • How do I get certified and find a job?
  • What special equipment, curriculum, or software do I need?
  • How much money can I make and how will I get paid?
  • Do I have to be a native speaker or teach kids?
